LVF marks 20-years with WS Bentley with 100-millionth pack

Leeds Vacuum Formers (LVF) has marked its twentieth consecutive year supplying WS Bentley by producing its 100-millionth punnet for the Gomersal based cress and salad produce grower.

The two family run businesses first worked together in 1995, when LVF was offered the opportunity to quote for the production of cress punnets following an increase in demand for the packaging that WS Bentley had previously manufactured in-house. It quickly became apparent that sub-contracting the work made perfect business sense and 20-years later LVF still remains the major supplier of punnets to WS Bentley.

Nigel Coates, managing director of LVF, said:

“The longevity of our relationship with WS Bentley and the Bentley family surprises even me. These days an awful lot of business is about winning the next account or sealing the next deal, rather than ensuring you look after what you’ve already got.”

“With WS Bentley, as with all of our customers, we aim to provide the very best level of service so that instead of worrying about keeping their work when the contract is complete or the project finished, we can look to grow it.”

In the 20-years that LVF has worked for WS Bentley it has manufactured an average of five-million units per year for them – a figure that Nigel is extremely proud of.

“In our industry, multi-million unit production is far from uncommon, but to maintain this level of output and such a good working relationship for so many years is an incredible achievement and one that speaks volumes for every member of the LVF team that has carried out work on behalf of WS Bentley during the last two decades.”

LVF currently produces the punnets that WS Bentley uses to supply cress to two major retailers and handles all low volume output for a variety of other products, including its “… and sow on…” range of shoots, leaves and sprouting beans.

Jan Bentley, managing director of WS Bentley, added:

“Having worked successfully together for so long, it is reassuring to know that Nigel and the team at LVF are there to be relied upon. The work they have done for us has never been anything short of exemplary and I sincerely hope we can go on working together for many, many more years to come.”
